Scientists Researchers

The web of life was the topic this week in science.  After reading The Web of Life by Melvin Berger, Kate engaged the children in a discussion on how living things are connected to each other in many different ways. The children discussed the function of decomposers, fungi, and slime molds. They learned that all plants are producers because they take the sun's energy and produce food.  The children also engaged in activities to classify the animals they are researching as carnivores, herbivores, or omnivores.

In Language Arts class the children organized their research folders and began collecting research material for their animals.  Mostly the children began drawing pictures and writing captions for their posters.  Each child will be creating a poster to present his/her animal as part of our culminating project on Homes and Habitats.

There will be more "research" photos posted in the coming week.

Have a great week!
