We are taking a little break?

Thank you Pre-K for visiting our Show of Work!

It's so much fun to share our work with our Middle School buddies!

I love my poster!

Researchers

The K/1s are deep into their research of Homes and Habitats - forest, field, and stream.  Every child is researching an animal he/she chose.  I am in awe of how the children are able to embrace the process of research.  They use picture books to collect facts through drawing and words.  They work independently and with their teachers with great interest and joy.  The children have opportunities to visit the library, the computer lab, and discuss their research with their middle school buddies.

Exploration of animals continues into Science with Kate

The K/1s reviewed the types of animals they are researching - omnivores, carnivores, and herbivores.  The children observed skulls with teeth and learned that sharp teeth are for eating meat and flat teeth are for eating plants.  They also had fun guessing "what's in the ? nature box."

                                                                      Peace Center

Julian added lots of beautiful shells and rocks to the Peace Center.  The children touch the shells and rocks gently, slowly, and quietly - PEACE

                                                            First Grade Math

The children worked on their December calendars.  They are exploring subtraction - solving equations using different types of manipulatives.  They are also exploring questions such as:
                                                                  If 4+5=9 does 9=4+5?
